David Daleiden

David Daleiden, an investigative journalist, went undercover for 30 months to expose the illegal activities within the abortion industry. He created several shocking videos, some released in 2015, revealing criminal activities within the industry and demonstrating how taxpayer dollars funded research using fetal organs harvested from born-alive babies. His work led Congress to investigate the abortion industry and prompted many states to defund Planned Parenthood.

Daleiden founded the Center for Medical Progress in 2013 to conduct undercover investigations into the abortion and fetal tissue industries. After 30 months, he unveiled the results of his investigation, the “Human Capital Project” He uncovered evidence of infants born alive and vivisected for their organs, illegal partial-birth abortions, and numerous financial and ethical violations related to the illegal trafficking of aborted baby body parts.

Daleiden’s work contradicted the abortion industry's claim of protecting women's health and welfare. He discovered that abortionists altered procedures to procure more commercially valuable fetal organs, disregarding medical ethics and patient health. These altered procedures sometimes resulted in fully “intact” fetuses, with some still having beating hearts. As a result of Daleiden’s work, Congress convened investigative committees, numerous states defunded Planned Parenthood, and the issue of abortion and fetal tissue trafficking became central to the 2016 Presidential Primaries.

The Trump administration took steps to end research involving aborted babies and defunded Planned Parenthood of $60 million in Title X funding. Pro-life sentiment, legislative policies, and activity at abortion clinics have all increased due to Daleiden’s findings. In response to his work, the abortion industry and its government allies launched a series of lawsuits and prosecutions against Daleiden. They sought to discredit his video evidence, punish him, and ultimately silence him. Facing legal challenges from some of the world’s largest law firms, Daleiden sought help from the Thomas More Society.

Hon. Peter Breen, Vice President and Senior Counsel of the Thomas More Society, called defending Daleiden in courts across the country the greatest challenge the public interest law firm has ever faced. Breen praised Daleiden as the premiere undercover journalist of their generation and expressed the honor of representing him. Since the release of the first undercover video from the "Human Capital Project" on July 14, 2015, the abortion industry has filed numerous lawsuits against Daleiden.

The Thomas More Society has represented him pro bono in state and federal courts, in both civil and criminal actions, relying on the support of donors across America and beyond.
