Motherhood, and the miracle of bringing new life into this world, is a beautiful gift from God. The pro-life movement has always boldly and joyfully proclaimed “CHOOSE LIFE”—and no other civic holiday better brings this to the forefront than Mother’s Day.
Here at the Thomas More Society, we strive to celebrate and defend motherhood not only on Mother’s Day, but every single day. The miracle of life—at the core of motherhood—needs our protection more than ever.
Indeed, the cornerstone of our pro-life movement is the celebration of motherhood, of new life, and of family.
Our thanks go out to all mothers. Thank you for choosing life. Thank you for nurturing, loving, and sacrificing our children.
Earlier this month, we awarded Olivia, a talented eighth-grade Catholic school student, a scholarship for her pro-life artwork, which acts as a perfect reminder of the beauty of motherhood and the inviolability of human life.
Olivia was inspired to create the gorgeous painting, celebrating motherhood and unborn life, after candid conversations with her own mother about motherhood and pregnancy.
She began to see that the mother’s womb is a world of its own—the entire world as the unborn child knows it. That became a powerful inspiration. “To me, a sunrise symbolizes a new day—and a new life,” she said.
Olivia’s art teacher, Kimberly Steil Magowan, also added that art and prayer “help the student see the world sacramentally, as a manifestation of God’s truth, goodness, and beauty.” Today, especially, we should remember that motherhood is a reflection of that same divine reality.
In the post-Dobbs era, with battles to protect life being waged in many of our states and courts, we must recommit ourselves to a pro-life movement that loves them both—the mother and her unborn child.
We wish all mothers a very blessed Mother’s Day, from the Thomas More Society.
