Thomas More Society Hails Trump DOJ Anti-Christian Bias Report as Vindication for Clients of Faith Who Fought Back

Washington D.C. — Thomas More Society today welcomed the final report of the Task Force to Eradicate Anti-Christian Bias as a long-overdue vindication for people of faith, especially the men and women it has represented in some of the most significant religious liberty battles of the past decade.
Established by President Trump's Executive Order in February 2025, the Task Force was charged with identifying and rectifying unlawful anti-Christian bias across the federal government. Today's report documents a pattern of discrimination spanning multiple agencies—including the selective prosecution of pro-life Christians under the FACE Act, the denial of religious accommodations to our military service members, and the lack of enforcement against the coercion of faith-based healthcare providers in states like Illinois. Thomas More Society has litigated each of these issues and continues to do so in courts across the country.
Among Thomas More Society’s cases reflected in today's report: the landmark settlement in Jackson v. Mullin, which permanently reformed Coast Guard religious accommodation policies; representation of several pro-lifers wrongfully prosecuted under the Biden-era weaponization of the FACE Act—including Mark Houck and Paul Vaughn—and later pardoned by President Trump; the 2026 HHS Notice of Violation secured in response to Thomas More Society's complaint against Illinois' abortion referral mandate, which found the state had violated federal conscience protections; and the historic Supreme Court victory in Mirabelli v. Bonta, in which the Court ruled 6-3 that California's secret gender transition policies in public schools violate the religious liberty and due process rights of parents and teachers.
"Under the Biden Administration, the federal government wielded various laws and regulations as weapons against people of faith," said Steve Crampton, Senior Counsel at Thomas More Society. "The cases we have fought are not isolated incidents. They are proof of a pattern. This report is a vindication not just of our legal arguments, but of the real people whose faith, livelihoods, and constitutional rights were put in jeopardy by their own government."
Thomas More Society expressed gratitude to the Trump Administration for exposing the systemic and widespread discrimination against Christians in particular, and for the courage and fortitude of the faithful Americans it has had the privilege of representing.
"We are so proud of the men and women and families we had the privilege to represent," Crampton continued. "Each of them faced a moment when it would have been far easier to stay silent—to set aside their faith, comply, and move on. They refused. They stood firm despite the cost, and they continued to live out their faith even when their own government stood against them. They reflect the courage and character that made America great and also made these victories possible."
"We are also deeply grateful to President Trump for fulfilling his promise to the American people," Crampton added. "He pledged that the days of the government weaponizing itself against Christians were over—and he has kept that promise. When people of faith refuse to be silenced, and when leaders have the courage to listen, justice follows and the nation is strengthened."
