Welcome to the TMS Weekly Dispatch for September 15, 2025—with the latest news and updates from the front line, to keep you in-the-know on all things Thomas More Society. If you missed last week’s edition, you can read it here.
Here’s a look back at the past week:
REMEMBERING CHARLIE KIRK: Thomas More Society grieves over the political assassination of Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA. We stand in solidarity and prayer with Charlie, his wife and two children that he leaves behind, and all victims of political violence who are silenced for speaking the truth.
“Charlie believed that whenever we ceased open debate, violence would ensue, risking humanity’s ultimate loss. He dedicated his life to creating and participating in open forums where differing perspectives and varied political voices could be heard,” said Tom Brejcha, Founder & President of Thomas More Society. “We are a people called to hope. In Christ, we find a peace that turmoil of this world cannot steal from us. May Charlie’s memory move us all—left or right, believer or unbeliever—to renew the promise that helped make America great, namely, that dialogue remain open, differences be freely voiced, and disagreement be expressed peaceably.”
VICTORY — PENNSYLVANIA PAROCHIAL STUDENTS CAN NOW PLAY SPORTS AT THEIR HOME SCHOOL DISTRICT: As of today, Pennsylvania parochial school students who lacked access to athletic opportunities are now permitted to play sports in their home school districts, ending the Pennsylvania Athletic Association’s unfair exclusion, thanks to an Interim Consent Order secured today by TMS attorneys in federal court.
“Our family is deeply grateful to the Thomas More Society for standing up for families like ours. Because of their work, our son can now play football with his peers at our local public school without us having to sacrifice our faith, values, and educational freedom,” celebrated David Aungst, a father involved in the lawsuit.
“This is a huge relief for parents and students across Pennsylvania,” added Tom Breth, TMS Special Counsel.

OP-ED: PA FAMILIES SCORE TOUCHDOWN FOR RELIGIOUS FREEDOM: TMS Executive Vice President Tom Olp wrote an op-ed in Real Clear Pennsylvania today, breaking down Thomas More Society’s religious freedom victory for parochial school families across Pennsylvania.
From the Op-Ed:
“For families in underserved or rural communities, where smaller parochial schools often lack resources to field sports teams, this [win] is a game-changer. It affirms that no child should miss out on the life-shaping benefits of athletics due to their family’s religious convictions.”
“As the new school year begins, parochial school students are already stepping onto the field, track, and court alongside their public-school peers. With this victory, a clear message is being sent: Pennsylvania families have a right to live out their faith without sacrificing opportunity.”
