TMS WEEKLY DISPATCH 6/16/25

Here’s the latest news from the past week at Thomas More Society, in our legal battles defending life, family, and freedom.

Welcome to the TMS Weekly Dispatch for June 16, 2025—with the latest news and updates from the front line, to keep you in-the-know on all things Thomas More Society. If you missed the last edition of the Dispatch, you may read it by clicking here.

Here's a look back at the past week:

VICTORY - CATHOLIC SCHOOL FAMILIES WIN RELIGIOUS DISCRIMINATION LAWSUIT: On June 10, TMS attorneys won a major victory for parochial school families in Pennsylvania, restoring students’ rights to participate in extracurricular activities and athletics offered by the public school district, when their own school lacks comparable alternatives.

The original lawsuit, filed in 2023, was brought by TMS on behalf of the Religious Rights Foundation of Pennsylvania, as well as several parochial school parents, against the state’s College Area School District (SCASD) and its Board of School Directors. TMS attorneys argued that SCASD’s policy of excluding parochial school students was clearly discriminatory, punishing taxpaying families for their choice of religious education while allowing homeschooled and charter school students to join under the Pennsylvania Public School code.

TMS CONTINUES TO LEAD THE FIGHT TO REPEAL THE FACE ACT: Last week, Congressman Chip Roy’s ‘FACE Act Repeal Act of 2025’ was passed by the House Judiciary Committee and now advances to a full floor vote in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“If passed, it will be a transformational moment for the pro-life movement and fulfill President Trump’s campaign promise to end the weaponization of government against pro-life Americans. President Trump rightfully pardoned our pro-life clients, who were unjustly convicted and can personally attest to the consequences of radical activist prosecutors’ ability to twist laws to punish their political opponents,” reacted Andrew Bath, Thomas More Society Executive Vice President and General Counsel.

Thomas More Society continues to advise lawmakers on the FACE Act as well as continue its defense of pro-life advocates unjustly targeted under the Clinton-era law.

Take action today by signing our letter to Congress demanding that the FACE Act be repealed once and for all.

NEW POLL INDICATES INCREASE IN PRO-LIFE SENTIMENT: A new Gallup poll released last week shows a slight increase in pro-life values, offering encouragement to advocates for life. According to the poll:

  • People identifying as ‘pro-life’ rose from 41% to 43%
  • People identifying as ‘pro-choice’ fell from 54% to 51%
  • Overall support for abortion decreased by 3% for women and 7% for men

While there is still much to do before our society regains proper respect for human life, this new poll offers hope that the United States is gradually moving in a more life-affirming direction—and the efforts of pro-life Americans are making a difference.
